Sweetness starts with the bitter things in life.
Reality check: There is never a homogeneous society especially here, so never generalise!
I was on the bus a couple of days back and i happen to meet two unique characters. Both a female, chinese, probably lack the basic appreciation of being a selfless civic minded singaporean. Truth be told, i am utterly ashamed of them. One was a 30-odd lady and the other was at her prime age already, perhaps with a couple of years left...I could only bring it down to that, in my search for a sound reason for her motivation to her actions. The 30-odd lady had a long wrapped pole or curtain railing, i could't really tell. But I could see that it was NEW considering the careful wrapping on it. Well, she had it standing, straight up, at the nearest seat to the door. Yes, right where the tv screen is. SO basically, we have a rectangle screen with part of her pole dividing it , diagonally. How selfish! She acted pretty casually, like nothings wrong. Fucker. The old medusa had her own set of antics. She wanted her husband, who was seated behind to come sit next to her. By the way, ol' medusa was seated a seat behind 30-odd. Nevermind that, she intently placed a bundle of red wrappings on the seat next to her and directed anyone who wanted to fill that seat, behind. Is it just me, or are people that plain ignorant? Fucking selfish, i tell ya. Well, she should thank her lucky stars coz that day, i was not at all attracted to her empty seat. Man, i would have strangled her and bundled her up in that red wrapping!
Isn't it odd to be witnessing such an occurance, especially when its being enacted by mature adults. Adults who supposedly are the light that leads today's youth. Adults whose experience in life are greatly sought after and repeated in the hope of becoming a useful being. I guess the world has revolved and in the process steered a good way out of the convention. The old are not always wise and the young are not always naive. =)
Of course, to every occurance that happens before you, there is always something you can take with you. Something that you can, in years down the road, reminisce and enlighten yourself yet again. In the heat of the occurance, a schism of two seperate beliefs was constructed, unconsciously. It was them (two-dimwits) and us (the general-sane-public) on board the bus. Not knowing who we all are, or what we work as, or what our basic names were, or where we were headed to, we all started giving each other looks. Dirty looks that condemns the presence of such an act. Some even sparked conversations on how ruthless those beings were. That was a malay lady and a chinese lady, by the way. :) I am a sucker for interacial relations. Nonetheless, a common loathing brings a diverse lot of people together. *shrugs* Its not always bad is it?

As i walked past hoardes of people, i spotted a middle aged couple. With interlocking fingers, i see their smiles. Sweet sincere smiles that probably binded their affinity to each other. Contrasting yet similar. One tall, the other a little below average. One had a pristine ivory facade, the other a dark copper tone. I suppresed a smile of my own, along with the glowing feeling that was emanating from the depth of my inner self. I was elevated by their mere presence. There were patch of soggy grounds I'm sure. Times when dirt and grime filled their paths. Times when everyone was attempting to take a swing at them. Times when they had no one, but each other. They prevailed nonetheless. They aren't rich materially, but they are rich in many other ways... and i love them so.
